Tipbit announced today that it closed a Series A round of $4 million, led by Ignition Partners. The Tipbit app revolutionizes the mobile email and productivity experience through contextual search as well as integration with popular cloud services such as Evernote, Dropbox, Salesforce and others. As mobile email rapidly overtakes mail on the desktop, Tipbit is poised to capitalize on this major trend with version 2.0 of its advanced email application for smartphones.

The mobile productivity arena augurs strong demand for Tipbit’s capabilities. According to Nielsen, mobile will overtake desktop internet in 2014. In particular, Tipbit solves the challenges inherent in the top four tasks that mobile email users defer to their desktops: Researching new prospects, emailing introductions, scheduling meetings and saving emailed files to Evernote or other cloud services. Tipbit version 2.0 instantly surfaces rich information on any email sender’s contact information, including LinkedIn profile, recent Tweets, blog posts and other publicly available data, presented by tapping on the sender name. Sharing via cloud services happens within the inbox with one-tap clip to Evernote or other services.

The use of funds from this Series A round includes an investment in engineering to accelerate the pace of innovation. The company is building on an app that has already received widespread praise from users and industry leaders. “Email combined with search, social and personal cloud brings a new level of efficiency to mobile users,” said Frank Artale, Ignition managing partner. “Tipbit is leading a new wave of apps that bring relevant information to the user the moment it’s needed and with the tools to respond to requests instantly, in the inbox.”

Version 2.0 adds contextual searching and the ability to instantly filter searches by subject, date, sender or other attributes. Tipbit’s powerful contextual indexing engine automatically delivers relevant content to mail or calendar, giving users immediate access to relevant information at their fingertips.
